Il débute et se fait remarquer, au début des années 2000, grâce aux nombreux seconds rôles qu'il incarne dans divers longs métrages notamment 8 Mile (2002), Brother to Brother (2004), She Hate Me (2004) et Million Dollar Baby (2004).
